Saw this today! I think its safe to say this is no longer a Jeep. But it looks seriously capable :)
Look at all the gears. I know the two central ones are for regular gears and 4WD. But whats with the lever behind that (hand brake?) and the two by the seats (seat adjustment)?

it doesnt have rear-steer, so its not tht...
Id wager one is a handbrake.

They even parked it correctly.

The center one is for the gears for the transmission. The two on the floor are for the transfer case. It either has something like an Atlas 2 or a custom doubler, but the two sticks allow for the rig to do a “front dig” where it can disengage the rear driveshaft and just send the power to the front. Something like this.

I love that someone is just driving around in this thing. I love when people DD crazy shit.

Apparently they made a very smart choice with these Super Swamper TSL/SX tires.
Read a review on them, and they got 5 stars on rock, mud, and trail. Of course, there’s some sacrifices with a tire like this, with only a 1 1/2 on street, 3 on sand, and 3 1/2 on snow.
Another plus: size availability
These tires are available in a wide variety of sizes.

I’d imagine that anything over about 35 mph on pavement in that is absolutely miserable.
Not sure which part would be worse, the noise, the wind, or the crappy handling.

Half Sand Rail, Half Jeep. I like it.

What do you mean? I don’t see a Prius under it at all.

sounds like a good time to me lol :] DD all the crazy things!!!

So it can be FWD, AWD, and RWD? My god.

Yea essentially. Not like its a road legal rig though...but for off road it helps tremendously to have that kind of selection.

Judging by the lack of license plate i doubt its a street legal rig. That combined with the full hydraulic front steering means its probably not. Most states don’t allow full hydraulic steering. There has to be some mechanical linkage.

Depends on how its set up. Have you ever seen a King of The Hammers race truck? Or an Ultra 4 class truck? Basically look like rock crawlers, but go on terrain over 100+ mph. Not its probably not good on the street (i dont think its road legal anyways..no license plate and full hydraulic front steering) but i bet it rides super soft and can actually get up and go. Just looking at the rig they have some money in it. Its not a cheap build by any means.

Oh damn, that is fucking sick!

I love the wheels and tires.
They work so well with the aesthetic of the rig. Its good to know they’re functionally sound too.

Yep, the squishy tires and suspension that work so well off-road are what will make it miserable on pavement. Plus, traditionally you don’t wear a full-face helmet and earplugs like you would while racing.

This is true...Although you would definitely get some looks if you did.

Good catches. I was too excited thinking about driving this thing to pay attention to the fact that it’s probably not road legal.

I suspect the fuel economy is worse than stock.

my guess is he has dual transfer case setup. The handles by the seat appear to be for individual braking. Here is an article I found about it. One of the lever setups in the photo looks very similar to what’s shown here.

I thought so too. Wouldn’t be surprised if this weighs in more than twice the original jeep lol

Possibly the transfer case has separate levers for high/low range and 2x4/4x4, I’ve seen some like that. It isn’t very common any more but a lot of older ones were like that and possibly some of the more “industrial” transfer cases have retained separate levers.
